Who is this course aimed at?
This course is designed for professionals such as personal trainers, coaches, exercise therapists, physiotherapists and all those interested in exercise, nutrition, allergy and the immune system.

What topics will be covered?
Function and structure of immune system, inflammation, exercise, the role of muscle tissue, stress and the immune system, the effect of obesity on the immune system, nutrition requirements of the immune system, allergic disorders and exercise and autoimmune disorders.
Expected learning outcomes
An understanding of:- the role of the immune system, how the immune system works, the role of Inflammation.
An understanding of tissue repair and the immune system. Tissue turnover and the cellular and inflammatory responses.
An appreciation of:- the role of muscle tissue in the immune system, the good and bad effects of exercise and when not to exercise.
An appreciation of the nutritional requirements of the immune system; the role of macro and micronutrients; immunological consequences of malnutrition; the role of supplements including bioactive supplements such as probiotics; the concept of oral tolerance and autoimmune diseases affecting the availability of nutrients.
An understanding of allergy, especially food allergy, asthma and exercise induced anaphylaxis, intolerance and the effects of exercise.
An insight into how physical and psychological stress affect the immune system.
